Verna Linzey Co-Leading Intercession for Revival in America

Verna Linzey Co-Leading Intercession for Revival in America

Contact: Bishop Janice Hollis, Military Bible Association, 215-859-7744

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- The following is submitted by Jim Linzey:

On Sunday, January 20, the Rev. Dr. Verna Linzey who is the founding vice president of the Military Bible Association (based in San Diego), Rev. Opal Booth who is the president of the United Evangelists Association (based in Los Angeles), and Rev. Alice (Tanaka) Hodges who is the pastor of Global Covenant Church (Torrance, CA) where the convocation occurred, led a Los Angeles-based intercessory convocation for revival in America. African American, Asian, Caucasian and Latin American Women and Men participated in offering of prayers for Church leaders, pastors in particular, leaders in politics, military leaders, the educational system, families, the unsaved and the destitute. The theme was revival in America and the restoration of the founding principles of America.

The time of intercession followed praise and worship and sermons delivered by the Rev. Dr. Verna Linzey on "Using Tongues in Private Prayer;" and Rev. Opal Booth on "Asking and Receiving and Revival in America." Additional sermons, ecstatic utterances and prophetic words were spontaneously delivered as the Holy Spirit moved upon a Nigerian Woman and a Latin American man and as they delivered their prayers for America. A Filipina and the Latin American man were slain in the Spirit and spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance when Rev. Linzey laid hands upon them and prayed concerning their respective prayer requests.

Dr. Linzey delivered this prayer for Church leaders around the world:

Come, Holy Spirit, and cleanse Church leaders by the blood of the Lamb. Purge the Church, Holy Spirit, from the evil influences of the world and strengthen the Church to impact the world so that Righteousness would reign once again. Cleanse our hearts, souls, and minds, Holy Spirit, and draw us to be willing vessels unto Your good works so that all men may come to humbly know and serve You. Move now upon Los Angeles, making her a beacon of Light for the glory of God. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The meeting of international and local representatives stems from the recent outbreak of revival in the Los Angeles basin at last weeks' Pastors' Prayer Convocation for Revival in America (which are slated to be on-going); the recent Azusa Street Commemoration entitled "Honoring the Holy Spirit for the Past, Seeking God for the Future" led by Rev. Fred Berry (where Dr. Verna Linzey ministered and Rev. Mel Robeck, Ph.D., Professor, Fuller Theological Seminary spoke); the recent moving of the Holy Spirit at Bonnie Brae Street and at the Los Angeles Mission in Torrance where Global Covenant Church meets, and other locations.

Results of the recent move of the Holy Spirit include the baptism with the Holy Spirit as confirmed by speaking in tongues, "falling" under the power of the Spirit, inter-racial church growth at the local level, reports of fasting and prayer and a hunger for more of God.

More outgrowths of the move of the Holy Spirit include additional gatherings across the country which are in the planning stages at Tranquillity Park and Destiny of Faith International Ministries in Houston, TX; Trenton, New Jersey; Bonnie Brae Street; Satellite ministries of the United Evangelists Association in various locations around the world; and the Philippines. The intercessory prayer convocations are scheduled the third Sunday of each month.

Pastors' International Prayer Convocation for Revival in America

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Sunday January 13 about thirty pastors from Los Angeles and the Philippine Islands held a Pastors' Prayer Convocation for Revival in America. The prayer meeting was held at an industrial park where Cross Tower Ministries meets. The meeting was moderated by the host pastor, Rev. Jude M. Garcia.

The Pastors' Prayer Convocation was birthed from the recent on-going revival and pockets of revival at Azusa Street, Bonnie Brae Street, and at the Los Angeles Mission in Torrance and other churches, including the preaching, teaching and ministry of Evangelist Verna Linzey, Evangelist Fred Berry and Evangelist Jim Linzey. The results of these pockets of revival include church growth at Global Covenant Church pastored by Japanese Pastor Alice (Tanaka) Hodges (meeting at the Mission in Torrance), baptisms with the Holy Spirit, conversions, slayings in the Spirit, and various other manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

The Rev. Dr. Verna Linzey (the youngest sister of the late Evangelist Franklin Hall, who ministered with Kathryn Kuhlman's former husband Dr. Waldrup), attended the convocation. She was addressed by Pastor Hodges as the "Ministry Daughter" of Kathryn Kuhlman. Rev. Linzey gave remarks in which she made this prophetic pronouncement:

"I bring you greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit has begun a new work bringing revival to Los Angeles. This pastors' prayer meeting is birthed out of it and will help take the flame of revival from Los Angeles to the uttermost parts of the world. Holy Spirit, come now upon these pastors and grant them a fresh impartation of your Spirit. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

Other pastors participated in wonderful ways. Rev. Joel Pollack, Pastor of Turning Point Christian Fellowship of Lakewood, prayed for marriages and families to remain strong; Rev. Jude Garcia, Pastor of Cross Tower Ministries of Carson, prayed for the unity of the churches in Christ; Bishop Francisco Arzadon from the Philippines shared how the Word of God is taught in public schools in the Philippines and in government offices; Rev. Bart Bartolome, Pastor of New love Fellowship of Long Beach, prayed for economic blessings on the United States; Dr. Jim Linzey, President of Military Bible Association, based in Escondido, prayed for Congress and the President and military leaders; Evangelist Mike Porter, whose international ministry is based in San Pedro, prayed for the youth of the nation; Rev. Alice (Tanaka) Hodges, Pastor of Global Covenant Church of Torrance where revival has been ongoing since Verna Linzey ministered there in November, prayed for the conversion of entire nations. The excellent worship music was led by Pastor Garcia's church band.

Pastor Garcia's spontaneous call for special music from anyone was surprisingly met by Verna Linzey, who is a recording artist in addition to being an evangelist and author. She sang her world-famous hymn "Oh Blessed Jesus" as a solo, with her son Jim harmonizing.

The theme Scripture read by Bishop Arzadon was II Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (KJV). The bishop described how the gospel came from America to the Philippines and how it is returning to America from the Philippines.

This convocation comes as an outgrowth of revival just one month after the move of the Holy Spirit at Bonnie Brae Street, where Verna Linzey ministered under a powerful anointing, and after the the move of the Holy Spirit at the Azusa Street Commemoration on December 7th at Union Church, next to the Azusa Street Mission site, and on December 8th on the very mission site where numerous Japanese-American pastors and their parishioners gathered together to celebrate what God did in 1906. The commemoration also included Rev. Mel Robeck, Ph.D., Professor, Fuller Theological Seminary; and Evangelist Fred Berry, Evangelist Verna Linzey and Evangelist Jim Linzey. Many of the pastors and parishioners, who are third and fourth generation Japanese-Americans flooded the altar to seek and receive from the Holy Spirit as Verna Linzey prayed with them and as the Holy Spirit came upon them mightily with the baptism with the Holy spirit, quaking and falling over under His power.

The presence of the Holy Spirit was also strongly felt at the recent Pastors' International Prayer Convocation for Revival in America as the pastors cried out to the Holy Spirit with shouts of praise with uplifted hands, quaking under the power of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance. The racial make-up among the pastors and evangelists were Filipino primarily, African American, Caucasian, and Japanese -- all praying for their nation -- the United States of America. The pastors feel led to continue the pastors' prayer meetings once a month as an outgrowth of revival.
